(absolutely solely to try to make people laugh):

Y’know that’s great and all, but a walk would have been just as good there.

    (ducks)

No projectiles, only kudos to throw at’cha. Nice one! Made ME laugh, anyway.

How do we get one of those word-cloud thingies? I want to laugh if “bitter angry losers” comes up.

People at ESPN are wondering how they’ll recap this game against their beloved Yankees and Rivera

You left off… “WHEN THEY WAKE UP!” (They’re all asleep right now, dreaming warm fuzzy Yankee dreams…)

My birthday’s in half-an-hour…excellent early birthday present.

My birthday’s in half an hour too! 😀

Happy Birthday, Ibuprofen!! Are you gonna be in attendance?

I’m at the game tomorrow, and I’ve deliberately got me some seats on the first base side- because in 23-plus years going to Mariners games, I have never gotten even a chance at a foul ball.

Call it a remnant of an old child’s dream, but dammit I want one still.

Thanks M’s for a super way to finish my 18th birthday!! Couldn’t have asked for more than the best win of the season!! And MrZDevotee, you have an excellent voice! Thanks so much..

Happy Birthday, Ibuprofen!! Are you gonna be in attendance?

Unfortunately not, broke college student here. I’ll be watching it from the comfort of my family room couch.

And of course, happy birthday to you as well SonOfZavaras! Maybe Ichiro will go 7 for 7 as a birthday present for us.

This series right here makes this whole season okay, no matter what happens from here on out.

Tell me you ever believed that if Pineda and Felix weren’t at the top of their game, we would win both games they pitched against the Yankees!?

    No way. But it’s true!

Nice work hustling, scrapping, small ballin’ Mariners. Making us all proud. (And makin’ the Yankees $200 million seem like a waste of money!)

    Drayer’s birthday also.

How important do you think Miguel Olivo is to the rest of the team? No dog there. That’s the kind of guy I want on my team.

Ha! I had Tivo’ed the game and given it an extra 1.5 hours… that should’ve been plenty, even with the Yankees right?

So I’m watching it and sweating, because it’s tied 4-4 and going into extra innings, and I get to the point where there’s 18 recorded minutes left and we’re still tied.

Then I get to the point where it looks like the Mariners have a really great shot, but there’s about 3 minutes left and I’m afraid it’s going to run out before the game is over.

THEN!! Adam Kennedy wins the game right about at 4:29 – I got to see it! AWESOME!! I know Ryan’s been really lucky, and Olivo played over his head tonight (offensively anyway), but – right now these guys are amazing!

BTW Happy Birthday Ibuprofen and dallin!

I fully expect that, some day, Miguel Olivo is going to die playing baseball.

I fully expect that, some day, Miguel Olivo is going to die playing baseball.

At this rate, I won’t put money against that.

I had no idea multiple USS Mariner denizens shared my birthday!

Happy Birthday, dallin! And once again to Ibuprofen!
Maybe I’ll hit Shannon Drayer’s blog to wish her a happy birthday, too…

I’m sorry I missed including you in that birthday greeting!

    Happy Birthday, SonOfZavaras!

Just got back from the game. Man, we sure picked a good one for our first of the season! And I don’t care what anyone else says, seeing a completely naked guy dancing.on the field, in handcuffs, directly in front of my section was hilarious!

  15. Paul B on May 29th, 2011 6:38 am

Ichiro, this year, in May, he’s hitting .213 .272 .245

I looked to see if I could find another month that was that bad. Found these that are pretty close:

    2010, July .246 .288 .280
    2006, Aug .233 .274 .293
    2005, Jun .243 .261 .351
2003 Aug .242 .287 .333 (followed by a Sept that was only a little better)

So unless I missed something, this might be his worst month as a Mariner, but not by much.

  16. Paul B on May 29th, 2011 6:44 am

Who was left in the Mariner Bullpen at the end of the game? Ray and Gray? Or is there another ghost out there that Wedge and I have forgotten about?

  17. Paul B on May 29th, 2011 6:51 am

Cortes and Wilhelmson are in Tacoma, aren’t they?

I was just wondering because the bullpen has thrown quite a few innings in the last few games, so figure Wedge might have to dust off whoever is left out there.

I have been monitoring Cool Standings ratings of the Mariners lately. With each of the victories over the Yankees in this series, their projections show the average number of Mariners wins for the season has gone up more than one game.

Not sure what that means. One way to interpret it is that all of the projections assumed the Mariners would lose these games against the Yankees.

Anyway, Cool Standings now has the Mariners ranked as Contenders.

  19. Liam on May 29th, 2011 9:23 am

Tom Wilhelmsen is in AA working on becoming a starter.

Chris Ray, Jeff Gray and Aaron Laffey will definitely be available for Sunday’s game. Brandon League and Jamey Wright are probably available.

    Happy Birthday, SonOfZavaras!

No worries, Westside guy! I figured I was included on those.

Mariano Rivera lost last night… but the dude is still amazing. He’s one reliever I’d have no problem seeing in the Hall of Fame.

  22. ndrfx on May 29th, 2011 12:04 pm

He’s first ballot all the way.

All this A-Rod booing is old… Seattle has some of the worst fans. Bitter angry losers.

Many remember his saying, “People are going to be surprised when I sign for less than I could have.”
Others remember the hypocrisy of his frequently saying, “How can I be the most valuable player in the league when I’m not even the most valuable player on this team?” and then sulking when the local BWAA voters agreed with him.
    Others remember other things.
    The booing won’t stop.

  24. absolutsyd on May 29th, 2011 9:33 pm

Or saying he wanted to go to a contender, then signing with the horrible Rangers… or him saying Boeing should move to Texas.
