Game 69, Angels At Mariners

Santana vs. Bedard, 7:10 pm.

Is this a joke? Not that tinkering with lineup order matters that much, but first, Wedge doesn’t want to stick Smoak in the cleanup spot because he doesn’t want to put that kind of pressure on him, yet now he’s fine putting Peguero there just to give it a try.

Ichiro, RF
Ryan, SS
Smoak, 1B
Peguero, DH
Olivo, C
Carp, LF
Gutierrez, CF
Figgins, 3B
Wilson, 2B

I think it´s the best game of the season for Figgy so far…

“For every homerun hit by a Mariners player Alaska Airlanes will donate 10,000 miles…”

10,000 miles won’t get you from here to Portland.

  3. groundzero55 on June 15th, 2011 9:45 pm

What’s wrong with The Flying Dutchman 😉

  4. lalo on June 15th, 2011 9:46 pm

    Ackley 4-2 in Tacoma he´s hitting .303 OBP .420 OPS .908

  5. groundzero55 on June 15th, 2011 9:47 pm

He went 4 for 2? Damn he IS good.

  6. SonOfZavaras on June 15th, 2011 9:47 pm

Let’s see…in trying to figure out which one’s gonna stick as our LF…Carp, Halman, Peguero and Saunders. All age 24 or less. All of them with diverse skill sets, but none of them with an all-around game.

If this were a horse race and I needed to pick one, I’d have to pin the racing form to my wall and throw a dart at it.

  7. KiWiNiNjA on June 15th, 2011 9:47 pm

If Figgins gets another hit here are we stuck with him for another month?

If he stop sucking it’s not exactly a bad thing.

  8. FetalPuzishun on June 15th, 2011 9:49 pm

Halman’s at bat music should be “across 110th street”

Cuz hes from Haarlem, get it?

    Ahem….

  9. SonOfZavaras on June 15th, 2011 9:49 pm

“Dutch” Halman kinda works for me…so does “The Flying Dutchman”. Kid can move some feet.

  10. FetalPuzishun on June 15th, 2011 9:50 pm

    Ok Brandon you got this.

  11. groundzero55 on June 15th, 2011 9:50 pm

and we can have a cheesy homer call like the Yankees have…A HALM run for HALMan!

  12. samregens on June 15th, 2011 9:51 pm

I just tuned in but the following was golden, MrZ!

(Ichiro starts to hit good and the rest of the team goes in the toilet. WTF!!! This team infuriates me at times.)

Yeah, who the hell could have… (pause… glancing)

…predicted… (distracted by your on screen name)…

    …this stuff……. ? ….?

(You’re not really shocked, are you?)

Now that he’s been sent down, Saunders is heating up – .326/.436/.478 . It’d be nice if he works out whatever’s going on inside his head when he’s at the dish – he’s by far the best defensive player of the lot.

  14. FetalPuzishun on June 15th, 2011 9:55 pm

If you were two inches taller Jack….

  15. Westside guy on June 15th, 2011 9:56 pm

    STACHE!!

  16. FetalPuzishun on June 15th, 2011 9:56 pm

    Wow that was slick…

  17. lalo on June 15th, 2011 9:56 pm

he’s by far the best defensive player of the lot.

    Halman is preety good too…

  18. Westside guy on June 15th, 2011 9:58 pm

    Halman is preety good too…

Actually, you’re right. I think Saunders is better than Halman, but lumping Dutch in with Carp and Peguero was unfair.

  19. Auggeydog on June 15th, 2011 9:58 pm

What kind of numbers would Saunders need to put up to have im win the spot? He is by far the best fielder, the minor league numbers he is putting up is not attainable in the majors but would 30-40 points lower be enough?

  20. Westside guy on June 15th, 2011 9:59 pm

Oh, come ON. You can’t give Peguero credit for hitting second base!

(Not meaning statistically – but Blowers made it sound like Carlos was “clutch” there)

  21. Andrew34 on June 15th, 2011 9:59 pm

    1.0 games behing Texas!

  22. teddyballgame9 on June 15th, 2011 10:00 pm

    Big shout out to Bedard!

  23. greentunic on June 15th, 2011 10:00 pm

Hey, who knows what’s up with the “Automatic Strike” to Ackley in the 8th inning on gamecast????

  24. groundzero55 on June 15th, 2011 10:00 pm

Worst move by the Angels tonight was pinch hitting for Bourjos. I think that guy is going to be the new Angels thorn in the M’s side.

  25. lalo on June 15th, 2011 10:01 pm

    1.0 games behing Texas!

And we´ll avoid Halladay, Cliff Lee, and Hamels!!!!

  26. groundzero55 on June 15th, 2011 10:02 pm

Hey, who knows what’s up with the “Automatic Strike” to Ackley in the 8th inning on gamecast

The only way to slow him down right now is call phantom strikes from afar.

  27. lalo on June 15th, 2011 10:03 pm

Hey, who knows what’s up with the “Automatic Strike” to Ackley in the 8th inning on gamecast????

It was weird, i don´t know, maybe only Gameday´s problems

  28. Edgar4Hall on June 15th, 2011 10:04 pm

So we’re going to sign him for a crap ton in a few years and he starts to suck?

Also, I petition that from now on, Peguero should speak in Spanish in these interviews with Brendan Ryan standing next to him and saying whatever he wants pretending to be the interpreter. It would be the best interviews

  29. groundzero55 on June 15th, 2011 10:04 pm

And we´ll avoid Halladay, Cliff Lee, and Hamels!!!!

And Texas still has another game with the Yankees and then a series in Atlanta against a Braves team with pretty decent pitching, starting with Hanson (2.48 ERA)

  30. teddyballgame9 on June 15th, 2011 10:06 pm

So would now be a good time to pick up Ackley for my fantasy team?

  31. FetalPuzishun on June 15th, 2011 10:06 pm

Amazing, you need a job at ROOT

  32. Carson on June 15th, 2011 10:07 pm

Ackley up now after a Yepez bases loaded GRD

  33. Westside guy on June 15th, 2011 10:08 pm

What kind of numbers would Saunders need to put up to have im win the spot?

I’m a fan of Condor, and I really want him to succeed. But I think his work is cut out for him – given his extended look this year, I bet we don’t see him again until September… unless he manages to put up extended AAA numbers comparable to what Carp was doing.

  34. Carson on June 15th, 2011 10:08 pm

Errr…. Langerhans just PH for Ackley

  35. samregens on June 15th, 2011 10:09 pm

Only one game out of first place now!

  36. FetalPuzishun on June 15th, 2011 10:09 pm

Angie is totally crushing on Halman.

    Don’t blame her

  37. Westside guy on June 15th, 2011 10:09 pm

WOOT!! Carson, I hope that means what I think it means..

    YEA!!!!!!!!!!! CONFIRMED!!!!!

  38. greentunic on June 15th, 2011 10:09 pm

    ACKLEY CALLED UP!!!!

  39. groundzero55 on June 15th, 2011 10:09 pm

ACKLEY TO BE CALLED UP ON FRIDAY. CONFIRMED

  40. Carson on June 15th, 2011 10:10 pm

    YES!!!!! YESSS!!!

    Ackley called up!

  41. Westside guy on June 15th, 2011 10:11 pm

Angie is totally crushing on Halman.

That was the first time I ever saw him interviewed – he seems personable and, at first listen, reasonably articulate.

  42. Westside guy on June 15th, 2011 10:12 pm

I’m actually giddy right now – just because Ackley is coming up!

  43. samregens on June 15th, 2011 10:13 pm

    I wonder who’s going down. L-Rod?

  44. Westside guy on June 15th, 2011 10:14 pm

Yup, Greg Johns says it’s L-Rod.

That doesn’t seem fair, but oh well.

  45. Edgar4Hall on June 15th, 2011 10:14 pm

    Woohoo! Great News!

  46. Westside guy on June 15th, 2011 10:17 pm

Wedge’s mustache looks like a movie makeup prop.

  47. Edgar4Hall on June 15th, 2011 10:26 pm

Wedge’s mustache looks like a movie makeup prop.

Did he get a cameo in Tombstone?

  48. samregens on June 16th, 2011 12:52 am

Yup, Greg Johns says it’s L-Rod.

That doesn’t seem fair, but oh well.

Yes, position-wise this makes the most sense, but L-Rod had some good moments so I’m a little sad.

  49. MrZDevotee on June 16th, 2011 8:43 am

Did anyone else hear the interview with Torii Hunter after the game…

He said he was taking Peguero with him to a casino somewhere, ’cause he’s so damn lucky! (regarding the sun-ball game winning RBI against the Angels last month, and now the second base lucky bounce to win this one…)

    Priceless.
