Vargas vs Moseley, 7:10 pm.

Dustin Ackley is not in the line-up tonight due to bruised ribs, but apparently he’ll be back in the line-up tomorrow. Still, that makes tonight’s game about 99% less interesting.

Ichiro, RF
Ryan, SS
Kennedy, 2B
Smoak, 1B
Cust, DH
Peguero, LF
Gutierrez, CF
Bard, C
Figgins, 3B

Ryan could have put a little more on that, and he knew it.

I love Ryan so much. He gets pissed when he doesn’t perform perfectly.

Or, for the fifties, Cust could use Patsy Kline’s “Walkin’ after Midnight”.

Now we need to cover the 70s and the 90s…

    RE: Cust-

I REALLY wanna see a “throwback” Jack Cust, sitting in the dugout in one of those old school, interwoven polyester/aluminum frame lawnchairs, next to an old green, metal Coleman cooler, poppin’ cold ones between innings (REAL aluminum pull tabs on the cans, that come all the way off!)… Straight out of a 1980’s softball tournament.

    83 MPH high and inside.

Change up? Didn’t really have any apparent movement. Does Vargas have a slider?

    Bad Religion’s “A Walk” for the 90’s.

  6. Auggeydog on July 1st, 2011 9:21 pm

    90’s walk like an egyptian
    70’s walk of life

  7. nvn8vbryce on July 1st, 2011 9:21 pm

I think that Fats Domino – “I’m Walkin'” would be better for Mr. Cust…

  8. MrZDevotee on July 1st, 2011 9:22 pm

Cust’s ’60s song could also be, “Walk Don’t Run” by local faves The Ventures (first surf song to ever crack the Top 40).

You kow the guy who invented the pop top on beer and pop cans lived in Medina until he was killed in a plane crash about 10 years ago? Just a little trivia to make you a bit smarter.

  10. Westside guy on July 1st, 2011 9:23 pm

hehehehe I am loving all of these ideas…

    Also, Vargas is a stud.

  11. nvn8vbryce on July 1st, 2011 9:24 pm

MrZ – I was also thinking that Walk Away Renee would work too…

  12. Westside guy on July 1st, 2011 9:25 pm

    90’s walk like an egyptian

It would be GREAT to see him doing the whole hand thing on his way to first…

Mr Z’s comment reminded me of that, so not out in LF as it looks at a glance. I posted it and it seemed really out in LF. LOL

    Auggey-
This might be my favorite bit of random out-of-the-blue trivia ever dropped on me in my lifetime. *laugh*

  15. Westside guy on July 1st, 2011 9:26 pm

Somehow Ichiro got a uniform that fits him perfectly.

  16. sexymarinersfan on July 1st, 2011 9:26 pm

I’m pretty sure “Walk Like an Egyptian” was from the 80’s.

  17. Auggeydog on July 1st, 2011 9:27 pm

Could Cust wear the gold makeup and have the stone next to his eye? Maybe the pitcher would be laughing so hard and never be able to throw a strike.

I’m pretty sure “Walk Like an Egyptian” was from the 80’s.

    Was thinking the same thing.

    In fact, it was 1986.

  20. henryv on July 1st, 2011 9:32 pm

I have mentioned that I am in love with Brenden Ryan, right?

  21. Auggeydog on July 1st, 2011 9:32 pm

Mr Z I might be able to top it. His second invention made him even more money. He invented the 1st cornea transplant. He sold it to Dow for millions and stock. From a pop top to a cornea transplant. When I worked construction (I was an ironworker/welder) I worked at his house 3 days tying up the rebar for retainig walls around his house on the water next to Jack Sikma. OH and he was a jack ass.

Tip of the hat to Denorfio for giving the bat to the fan.

Walking on the Moon by The Police came out in 1979

@IPL_Baseball: Helsin Martinez agrees to terms with the Seattle #Mariners for 2 million!

I heard he has ridiculous power, we´ll see!

  25. Westside guy on July 1st, 2011 9:33 pm

That was a classy move by Denorfio – AND a great jump by Ryan!

  26. henryv on July 1st, 2011 9:34 pm

Tip of the hat to Denorfio for giving the bat to the fan.

After that robbery, he probably doesn’t want the bat any more. But, yeah, good for him giving it back.

Not sure where that 0-1 pitch was.

  27. henryv on July 1st, 2011 9:34 pm

    So close.

  28. henryv on July 1st, 2011 9:35 pm

Ryan is pissed that he didn’t make two incredible catches in one inning.

  29. nvn8vbryce on July 1st, 2011 9:35 pm

How about “Jumping Jack Flash?” as a theme for Cust?

  30. Ibuprofen on July 1st, 2011 9:36 pm

    DAMN VARGAS YOU SCARY

  31. Auggeydog on July 1st, 2011 9:36 pm

When I googled Walk like an Egyptian there was a rerelease or something like that in 1990.

  32. nvn8vbryce on July 1st, 2011 9:36 pm

Ryan is pissed that he didn’t make two incredible catches in one inning.

I’ll take being pissed about that over making two boneheaded errors any day of the week!

  33. henryv on July 1st, 2011 9:37 pm

I like the high school football horn at the end of the win.

  34. Auggeydog on July 1st, 2011 9:38 pm

Vargas looked really good tonight, pitch placement is so important. Not the fastest, not the best stuff, but the ball in the right place both sides of the plate.

  35. Westside guy on July 1st, 2011 9:39 pm

Hey I just realized RoJo wasn’t catching for our hated rivals.

  36. Ibuprofen on July 1st, 2011 9:39 pm

Cust’s walk up music must now be the Oompa Loompa song <_<

  37. nvn8vbryce on July 1st, 2011 9:40 pm

Nice job, Jason! I think that the theme of the game for Mr. Vargas was “Gettin Jiggy Wit’ It!”

  38. Auggeydog on July 1st, 2011 9:41 pm

IBU’s got it oomps loomps loopity doo

  39. nvn8vbryce on July 1st, 2011 9:42 pm

Cust’s walk up music must now be the Oompa Loompa song <_<

Me thinks that the “Baby Elephant Walk” is more like it!

Cust’s walk up music must now be the Oompa Loompa song <_<

LOVED the oompa loompa reference by him there.

Seems like someone would mention to him that Babe Ruth wore a loose uniform. And that Babe Ruth was fat. And that he’s a little chunky. And that Babe Ruth hit home runs. And that he used to hit home runs. And maybe then he’ll get it.

  41. Auggeydog on July 1st, 2011 9:44 pm

Maybe if we trade all 5 of our pitchers Peguero Figgy and Carp for their 5 a LF a 3rd bm a C and a DH would that work? Maybe we throw in walking man too.
Hey we could have a big party in the woods were women are topless and call it walking man. In place of running man, and Cust could be the star attraction.

  42. Westside guy on July 1st, 2011 9:54 pm

Me thinks that the “Baby Elephant Walk” is more like it!

Hey, ‘Hatari’ is a fun movie!

  43. Edgar4Hall on July 1st, 2011 10:00 pm

In all honesty by next year, how good could Vargas be? he keeps getting better! 3 Shutouts this half of a year!!

  44. frontstreetfan on July 2nd, 2011 7:57 am

We were first Row just behind first base and noticed the left ear medical bandage Kennedy had what appeared to be a cut bandage inside his left ear. Good guy gave autographs to the kids just before game time. Solid pro.
Smoak looked pretty good at the plate but man does he have some wheel problems? I’ve got to believe he’s got a problem with a knee? Ludwick made a nice catch off Peggy tonight. If we could get him cheap he’d be a nice addition. Cheap is pick up his salary and a B prospect.

When I googled Walk like an Egyptian there was a rerelease or something like that in 1990.

You want a walk up 90’s song for Cust? How about Walking Contradiction by Green Day? Fits him perfectly.
