Winter Meetings Coverage

Dave · December 5, 2011 at 8:42 am · Filed Under Mariners

I’m down here in Dallas covering the winter meetings for FanGraphs, but I’ll also be updating USSM as I have time. There are going to be times when I’m not available to write while I’m here, though, and things may break when I’m away from my computer, so I wouldn’t suggest counting on this place being your spot for breaking news.

If you want to stay on top of the latest Mariners related rumors, you can always follow the Mariners Writers twitter list, as everything that breaks now breaks on Twitter. If you just refresh that page all day, you’ll be in the loop, then you can come here for analysis of stuff after it happens.

    Sadly, I doubt there will be any big Mariner news.
    Here at work anything to do with Twitter/Facebook or social media blogs are restricted, which sucks for staying in the loop. Any other sites that anyone can recommend?

    That list needs cultivating, Ryan Divish no longer covers the M’s

    Do it Jack! We need a 3rd baseman!

    The Phils want Aramis. And they will get him.

    I’d hold a seattle based tryout for a 3rd baseman before I’d trade for Polanco (i’m assuming you were kidding also). I like the guy. His career stats are impressive. But he’s injury prone and should only be playing on a contending team.

    12:09pm: The Mariners are also interested in Francis, tweets Morosi. Additionally, the Ms have interest in old favorite Jamie Moyer. via mlbtraderumors.com

    Francis got a 1yr/$2M deal last year. After pitching a full 183 inning season he’s going to get at least an incentive deal pushing $4-5M. Maybe even a 2 year deal.

    I’d be suprised if Moyer wants more than $1M after incentives. Take him.

    Maybe it’s just me, but before I’d like to hear Jack Z say: “We have no interest in trading Felix Hernandez,” I’d rather hear him say: “We have no interest in acquiring Jeff Francis.”

    Haven’t we suffered enough?

    @ManifestDestiny

    Here’s a modified twitter list that I put together. It includes some national writers as well (those who often ‘break’ news).

    For Pete sakes, will someone sign Fielder already? I’ve been sick of hearing about how the M’s MUST sign him for like two months, and I need it to stop! 😐

    Sorry for the rant. Carry on.
