Wednesday and Thursday Game Chats

Dave · March 26, 2012 at 3:13 pm · Filed Under Mariners

For those of you who think that 3 am is a fantastic time to be awake and watching baseball, I’ll be hosting live chats during both of the games against the A’s on Wednesday and Thursday morning. We’ll set up a game thread for both as normal, so you can make comments just like before, but we’ll also embed a CoverItLive window in the game thread for ongoing commentary as the games go along. The chats will be hosted both here and on FanGraphs, so it will be a mix of people hanging out and enjoying some early morning baseball.

So, if you’re one of the crazies who is going to skip out on sleep to watch the M’s play in the middle of the night, you can come hang out with us here. It should be fun.

Sounds like fun! I plan the attempt – we’ll see if these old bones cooperate.

I’ll see all you crazies there!

Two choices: 1) Stay up late, or 2) try to dodge loudmouths all day who wanna tell you the score before the replay. Tough decision ahead.

Option 3: Bed early and wake up earlier.

Is there any doubt that there will be a TV blackout? I mean watching the A’s here would be way too much to bear. Anybody possess any insight?

Is the game being broadcasted on MLB TV and/or MLB Extra Innings? I live in Pennsylvania and the only time I saw the game being televised was at 9am on MLB Network, after the game had already been played.

Weird, you would think at 3am ESPN could be carrying it. I hardly believe they have anything better to show.

According to my DVR, it’s going to air on the MLB network….at 9:00 AM Eastern, a 3 hour delay. I’m really hoping they’re not going to pull this crap, for the main reason that I’ll need to leave for work no later than the start of the 3rd inning. I was really looking forward to getting up 2 hours early to watch early morning baseball.

I agree with Option 3 above, and I would add taking a healthy dose of melatonin to the procedure. I canfeel the excitement for opening day building!

The game will air live locally on ROOT Sports, I believe. MLB Network is broadcasting the game on delay, but it’s not pre-empting the local broadcast.

Also, MLB.tv will be carrying the game live for those of us not in the Seattle area.

  12. Westside guy on March 26th, 2012 10:46 pm

Yeah, apparently ROOT will be using the Japanese NTV feed – but Sims and Blowers will be doing their bit from Bellevue!

NV M’s Fan, I can tell you from living in the Reno area that it will be blacked out on MLB.TV because of the A’s broadcast rights to anything north of Clark County.

Channel 21 out of Reno (KAME) and/or Comcast Bay Area will have the game.

For once, an M’s broadcast is more convenient for Dave than the rest of us. I could sure handle 6:00 a lot easier than 3:00.

Alas, I’ll be downtown with the Churchill posse for a viewing party. So, I’ve surpassed crazy and entered some other mental state beyond that.

Clark Co is their territory, too. Guess the delay will be better than usual black screen but the locale across the pond gives the blackout restrictions even more idiocy than standard.

If it was the Yanks Phills Sox or any other big name squad we’d be hearing all about this Japan trip through the major media outlets.

I hate beating this horse because it’s so dead but make it a big deal, PLEASE. Not just because us Mariners fans want some love, it’s just good for baseball.

They have the power to get people excited about opening day! They could made it so that not just Mariners fans and a handfull of prisons around the bay area are interested.

NV M’s fan, I didn’t even realize that Clark County was so convoluted. 6 teams have broadcast rights down there. Irregardless, the game is only on MLB Network (at least on Dish Network) for Northern Nevada, and BTW, Mariners 101, there is at least one prison employee from Nevada watching the game too 🙂
