Game 46, Rangers at Mariners

Millwood vs Feldman, 12:40 pm.

The M’s face Scott Feldman today, who is a sinkerballing right-hander, and those guys usually have pretty significant platoon splits. But Feldman’s a little weird, because he actually has a small reverse platoon split for his career, perhaps because of how good his split/change can be at times. This isn’t the kind of thing you really want to react to, but it’s worth keeping an eye on, and might be a reason why Alex Liddi is playing while John Jaso is on the bench. Against most right-handers, that would be a bad idea. Against this right-hander, maybe not so much.

Ackley, 2B
Liddi, LF
Ichiro, RF
Seager, 3B
Montero, C
Smoak, 1B
Saunders, CF
Carp, DH
Ryan, SS

That’s right Brandon, raise that trade value…

    Good win M’s!

Millstone’s a stopper. League goes 1-2-3. It is the bizarro world!

Was that Felix doing that odd little dance?

That was probably the best shaving-cream pie I’ve ever seen!

The best thing about Liddi’s day is now its one more guy that Wedge is going to be thinking he needs to get in the lineup more often, just as Olivo comes back.

Prior to today Liddi was 8 for 36 in May, with zero HR, and no RBI’s. That changed around his stats for the better pretty quickly. But he is still striking out > 30% of the time.

I think I’m going to just enjoy Liddi’s day for now, and I’ll suspend thinking about his strikeout rate until tomorrow. 😀

Time to sell high on Millwood?

It’s too early. I can’t believe GMs would trade for him right now. Plus, they gotta be worried about the old guy holding up the whole year. But sure, if you get an offer, take it.

I assume this means Liddi’s not getting sent down. Figgins getting cut seems too good to be true. Who then?

There are some interesting decisions to be made in the next month, that’s for sure.

Sounds like Guti may finally be on the mend too.

Finding a spot for Guti could be solved by trading Olivo to the Nationals!
