Game 61, Dodgers at Mariners

Vargas vs. Kershaw, 4:15.

Obviously no no-hitter today (for either team). The righthanded lineup gets sent out there against the lefty Kershaw.

RF-L Ichiro
LF-B Figgins
DH-R Montero
1B-B Smoak
2B-L Seager
C-R Olivo
CF-L Saunders
3B-R Liddi
SS-R Ryan

And Montero strikes out on a slider away. Haven’t seen that one before.

    *Sigh* He’s only 22, I guess.

A double steal?? Really??? This game really stinks…

And…..we have a 5 run deficit to make up in the bottom of the 9th…again…There’s only so much you can blame on “youth” and “inexperience”…How about lack of talent?

I keep wondering if Ryan will get dealt to a team in need of a defensive specialist. I actually like Ryan, but he’s not showing much for adjustments at the plate, and probably wasn’t part of the long-term plan anyway. Everyone seems to think Kawasaki would take his job, but Rodriguez has looked really good in Tacoma, has some ML experience, and is probably a better all-around player.

Even the most talented teams would have trouble trying to make-up 5 runs in the bottom of the 9th, WTF! I know what you mean, though (it’s the lack of talent that got ’em into the mess).

And, that is, as they say, it. Tomorrow is another day. Hopefully the offense shows up, and the pitching remembers that this isn’t AAA.

Overall, the team has played pretty good baseball of late. Hell, they were up against Kershaw today! And it was close, most of the game. Look forward to tomorrow!

I was feeling pretty good until I went to the Fangraphs home page, where they have this list of the best five players in six categories.

Fifth among “WAR Batters”: Adam Jones
Fifth among “WPA Batters”: Bryan LaHair
Fourth among “WPA Starters”: Brandon Morrow
Fifth among “WPA Starters”: R.A. Dickey

    Actual Mariners on list: none

Then I’d think it should be obvious what you should quit doing!?
