Podcast: Felix is Mighty Again

Matthew Carruth · May 19, 2014 at 11:47 am · Filed Under Mariners

Monday morning podcast(s) continues/begins.

The team has dipped below .500, but just barely and good(?) news is that there are four games versus the Astros on the docket for this week. Jeff and I discuss Mariner-stuff, much moreso than last week even though this week was worse.

Thanks again to those that helped support the show and/or StatCorner work in general last week, and in the past, and hopefully in the future. It’s truly appreciated.

So, not sure if you guys are covering this but should we be interested in some of these class a outfielders? Jabari Henry’s showing an interesting slash line, and that High Desert power. And what about Burt Reynolds in Clinton? Is there hope?

Burt Reynolds will be our Deliverance from both Smokey and The Bandit. Even when naked on a fur rug.

A couple of James Jones notes… His BABIP isn’t THAT insane relative to his minor league numbers. I recognize the MLB defense is much stronger, but with Jones’ speed and as a LH hitter, if he has a good contact profile a .330 BABIP wouldn’t be totally unreasonable, would it?

Also – has he had the opportunity to really unleash a throw yet? I’ve watched most of the games thus far since he’s been up, and haven’t seen him let on go yet.

I’d look to Gabriel Guerrero or Dario Pizzano first. (Or Morban if he ever plays again.)
