Why the M’s are not letting Jeff Clement catch?

  2. _David_ on September 28th, 2007 1:00 pm

One guess, hmm, how the Mariners showed poise in handling the huge collapse and not letting it get to them?

  3. Sports on a Schtick on September 28th, 2007 1:04 pm

Here’s hoping Dave pulls a Mike Gundy.

  4. Tom on September 28th, 2007 1:12 pm

They main topic will be. . .

    The NHL season preview.

    I win!!!!

Why the M’s are not letting Jeff Clement catch?

If his catching (as opposed to hitting) skills are not up to snuff (and we’ve been warned that they might not be), I could see how they wouldn’t.

On the other hand, can’t see how it can hurt…

Dave — please do all you can to show that this season has been a failure, that Bavasi has been a failure, that McLaren is over his head, that the FO needs housecleaning. Four years of failure — budgets well north of $100 Million — horrific trades — WORST run differential in the division (if it weren’t for a little luck, we’d be in 4th again — both A’s and Rangers have same record, and both have better run differentials than M’s) — you have all this evidence and more — please do NOT be “reasonable” here — go beserk. This emperor is buck naked and it needs to be shouted.

  8. Manzanillos Cup on September 28th, 2007 1:17 pm

The National League playoff races. Much more fun to talk about than this team.

  9. carcinogen on September 28th, 2007 1:35 pm

He just primed the pump for you, and referenced your research.

Note: Sandmeyer ripped the club a new one over Bavasi this morning. Not all hope is lost for the station.

    #8, I agree…how ’bout them Phillies!!!

    Go Moyer!

    HAHAA, Dave sounded awesome!

  12. Sports on a Schtick on September 28th, 2007 1:47 pm

    That was freaking sweet.

  13. joser on September 28th, 2007 1:48 pm

I love the intro music: “Highway to Hell.” Yes. That’s exactly what we’re on. “Season ticket, on a one – way ride”

  14. Bender on September 28th, 2007 1:48 pm

    Sweet inner robot!

  15. kentroyals5 on September 28th, 2007 1:51 pm

    Groz brings up win-loss record..cute

  16. Bender on September 28th, 2007 1:53 pm

Good show. I wish they’d continue this through the off-season.

  17. carcinogen on September 28th, 2007 1:53 pm

15: actually, I think that was a softball that Dave could use to demonstrate peripheral statistics…

    Good job, Dave.

    Groz brings up win-loss record..cute

Has to. First thing on ANY responder’s mind.

  19. Jay R. on September 28th, 2007 1:54 pm

“I love the intro music: “Highway to Hell.””

I was praying Dave could hear that while he was on hold. Kudos to Groz’s producer for that little shot.

For those that didn’t listen… when Dave started praising Chris Antonetti some glitch happened during the call, altering Dave’s voice to make him sound like a deranged robot.

  21. joser on September 28th, 2007 1:59 pm

Well, they said they will continue it periodically in the offseason — I certainly hope so. It’s the best 5 minutes of sports talk I hear all week. So they’ll probably have Dave on when/if the M’s make an offseason move, or maybe if something major happens in basbeball in general (ARod goes somewhere, or the Mitchell Investigation goes public with all the names on the customer lists from the recent DEA raids — “Small names, big names, legends,” the source said. “You’re talking about changing the history of the game.”)

  22. joser on September 28th, 2007 2:02 pm

“altering Dave’s voice to make him sound like a deranged robot”

    — No doubt confirming the suspicions of some detractors, abetted by Dave’s quick-witted quip about releasing “his inner robot.”

Here’s hoping Dave pulls a Mike Gundy.

He doesn’t have any kids, so that kinda ruins it.

OTOH, if he’d have done a Dan Hawkins, that would have been perfect.

IT’S MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL!!! IT’S THE AL WEST!!! IT AIN’T INTRAMURALS!!!

  24. Evan on September 28th, 2007 2:49 pm

I thought Dave might take up the whole show lamenting his cousin being voted off Dancing with the Stars.

    Poor Josie.

  25. gwangung on September 28th, 2007 3:24 pm

I thought Dave might take up the whole show lamenting his cousin being voted off Dancing with the Stars.

That would have gotten him a segment on the morning show…

  26. OppositeField on September 28th, 2007 3:51 pm

Did Kevin Durant throw out the first pitch today?

  27. Orlandu on September 28th, 2007 4:30 pm

That won’t happen for a couple of hours.

  28. JI on September 28th, 2007 5:10 pm

    I can’t find a link.

  29. thr33niL on September 28th, 2007 7:49 pm

Is there a link for the radio interview? Would love to hear it.

  30. joser on September 28th, 2007 9:51 pm

The interview goes up on KJR’s site at some random time that bears no relationship to anything I can figure out. Often later interviews go up before Dave’s does. Just keep checking back.
